What we do
Technology provides many new opportunities, and FIFA recognises that it is an integral part of modern society and wants to leverage it as a driver for progress at various levels. The innovation team is responsible for exploring existing and emerging new technologies to benefit the football world. This is in line with Goal 3 of FIFA President Gianni Infantino's Strategic Objectives for the Global Game: 2023-2027: to deliver fan engagement including through eFootball, and to invest in digital technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the next generations. From video assistant referees (VAR) and goal-line technology (GLT) to playing surfaces and provisions for FIFAe, they research, develop and implement initiatives that enhance the football experience.
